Chapter 3

Whence did you come, and what have you done, our Young Master? What could have happened to make you appear so cheerful? I sense a subtle difference in him compared to his usual self. Resuming my seat on the plush rug, I cradled my cherished box of chocolates in my arms. Benya, on the other hand, regarded it with a perplexed expression, seemingly baffled by its emergence. "That... Why do you stash your chocolates under the bed?" "Don't insult my beloved midnight snack." "I'm not insulting it, but why do keep it there..." "I’m not hiding it; I just feel like doing so. There's something delightful about the notion of resting atop a mound of chocolate. This, you see, is Vibrato's Special, gigantic-sized chocolate." I didn't want to reveal my tendency to squirrel away my favorite treats, especially those that could serve as emergency foods. Thus, I laughed cheerfully, removed the vibrant packaging, and offered it to this guy before...

In the next instant, he rose from his seat, causing Jerome to tightly shut his eyes in fear. Uncharacteristically, Benya's tone sounded almost friendly, albeit not particularly magnanimous, as he straightened his attire. "Uncle. How old is Piero now?" "W-What? H-He's nineteen now..." "He must have graduated." "Y-Yes, last year..." "We're currently short on apprentices. Why don't you bring him here? The younger he starts in the Imperial capital, the better. Yan, handle it instead of me..." Jerome merely gaped at his nephew, genuinely taken aback, as Yann approached and severed the ropes that were binding him to the chair. "T-then..." "Only we know what happened today. There's no need for others to find out." "O-of course. So, Benya, moving forward..." "I'm interested to see what you'll do from now on. You should go. My associates outside will escort you back to the hotel....

Chapter 1

𝕍𝕠𝕝𝕦𝕞𝕖 𝟡: 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕚𝕟 𝕄𝕪 𝔽𝕒𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕤𝕪 Usually, significant meetings of the Dallas Meyer Club took place in two different venues, depending on the atmosphere of the day. One was, as widely known, the Central Church, where violence in any form was strictly forbidden. The other was on the headquarters on Eldora Street, where no rules seemed to apply. On occasions when they needed to engage with outsiders, they utilized the Naviya bar located on the outskirts of the street. And today happened to be one of those days. At first glance, the bar looked like a fancy establishment built by a bored rich man, situated on a street that had transformed from the biggest slum to the largest entertainment district in the Imperial city. It had served as the club's front for laundering operations and was known as one of the best nightspots in the city. Recently, however, a peculiarly named hotel had started its operations nearby. It was owned by Serpente and was speculated to be involved i...

Chapter 9

After acknowledging the various greetings coming my way (many of the faces I couldn't even recall), I stepped out to assess the progress of the hotel. Despite my concerns, Wendy's Hotel was garnering positive attention, with reservations flooding in as soon as it opened. Oddly enough, the incident involving my near-poisoning seemed to have acted as a catalyst, generating interest rather than aversion. A place where anything can happen, truly. Considering the purpose behind Wendy's Hotel, it couldn't be more fitting. "You have no idea how worried I was." "It's all thanks to your brother, who handled the situation skillfully. More than that, I was concerned that Valen might get into trouble because of me." "We're in a situation where we should be thankful our ties remain intact. In any case, I'm really relieved that you're okay." Valentina, naturally, hadn't been dismissed from her role as my bodyguard, mentor, and friend....

Chapter 8

Benya's eyes, fixed on me as I playfully greeted him, were red and bloodshot like never before. Was it because he stayed up all night or had he been crying? The cries I heard in my dreams flashed through my mind. With a low cough, Lethias raised himself and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, then turned away. The other three followed him quietly. Then, the sound of a door closing. What on earth! How could they simply change their minds so effortlessly... "But where is this place? Clearly, it's not my room." "... This is my room." "Really?" Instead of answering, Benya slumped back in the chair and buried his face in his hands. His sleek, silver-gray hair seemed to quiver slightly. He remained motionless for a while. As I was about to say something, Benya finally spoke. It was a choked voice. "It's all my fault." "Benya." "I shouldn't have involved you from the beginning. No, I should've kept it hidden f...

Chapter 7

I paused and turned my head to the source of the voice. Standing close to the window next to the bed was a man with tanned skin, who I now recognized as Yann. He was Valentina's younger brother and the head of the Dallas Myer Club. I hadn't seen him since my return, so I was curious why he was here. "What happened?" "You were poisoned. Do you remember?" "I think so." "I'm quite adept at these things, so I tried to save you instead of relying on those medical professionals who only know how to waste ink. You were in a critical condition all night long." "...All night long. That sounds ridiculously short." Yann, whose attention seemed to be on the floor, slowly raised his head. His eyes, similar to Valentina's, a shade of unclear green, glanced at me meaningfully before quickly looking down again. "It's thanks to the strong Lady." "I'm not some noble young lady. If it wasn't for this terribly mad...

Chapter 6

"By the way, His Highness the Crown Prince came here to congratulate my brother on his birthday..." "I greet Your Highness the Crown Prince... Happy birthday, Ducal Prince." "I've always heard that a woman's marriage is always such a waste." "I was hoping you'd bravely break off the engagement because of the last incident, but I'm thrilled that you're here, shining in this place." "No, your words... and Your Highness's! If you say that, then what would become of me then?" As Assad and Benya exchanged words playfully, Lethias began to grumble, seemingly lamenting. But perhaps conscious of Alfonsina's presence, he held back a little. "But it seems you haven't had a drink yet." "...Didn't I tell you I'm sober, Your Highness?" "Are you? I'm sure you've had a drink or two. By the way, what is the name of this masterpiece? I don't think I've heard the name of the...

Chapter 5

No, seriously, where is this guy taking me without saying a word…! I was about to ask what he was doing, but the atmosphere felt off, so I decided to wait and see. So, he led me to stand in front of the mirror that covered the entire niche in one corner of the exhibition room. The room was filled with paintings, and in the mirror, we looked like figures in a frame. A woman in a sky-blue periwinkle-colored dress with long reddish-blonde hair and wide-set red eyes, and a man with silver-gray hair standing behind her, gazing at her with piercing light blue eyes. A pair that took your breath away just by looking at them... What is he up to? While I was thinking that, I suddenly remembered Vibrato's dormitory supervisor. Our formidable Peanut, who made every student who broke a school rule stand in front of the mirror and recite their statement of self-reflection out loud... "Haaa..." I couldn't help but let out an exclamation without realizing it. Who could endure such a ...
